Greenhouse / Drivhus

a new norsk word.
I really love glasshouses. Wouldn't it be nice to live in one?
When travelling in Sweden, we saw a lot of glasshouses in gardens,
used for growing vegetables/fruits as well as for reading or working (with chairs, books,…). I definitely want one like these, one day.

Norsk

These last months, we're thinking and fantasizing
about a big adventure we will start next year.
There are no concrete ideas yet, but the plan includes:
Norway and living a year abroad. Hurray! And to be continued...

Just so you know, from now on, there will be some pieces of norwegian language practicing in my drawings.. :)
(this one is an easy start. but as i like spending time in coffee houses, it is an important one)

finishing touches

after the live illustration adventure (see last post) i ended up with a lot of drawings,
but wasn't satisfied with most of them.
last week, i did some finishing touches and some turned out really fine.
they are still quick sketches (i made them in a few minutes), but in some of the drawings they don't need more lines.

the theme of the show was books, so i made each drawing about a specific book.

i drew two days in a row, that's why there are sometimes two similar sketches.

big thirty party

This weekend, my boyfriend celebrated his big birthday in style.
with a great party and a lot of family and friends.

i made this invitation...

… became very fond of drawing a kind of 'party animal'…

… so i drew one on the portal of the (party) barn, to indicate where the party was.
i like making this big drawings!
(especially of one of the subjects i'm fond of - and used - to draw)

a tiny-happy-moment-sketch a day

with this first month of the year
come some new blogging ideas.

Two weeks ago, i was tempted to start with a new list (as i did on my first blog).
but then i remembered that when i made the blog
i was stressed about keeping up with my time schedule (50 things! 150 days!),
i remember that sticking to the list implied
not having time for spontaneous things,
and above all, while i tried to finish up the list,
i never had enough time to put all this experiences and nice memories
into good images.
because there were still 33 challenges to go.

SO i threw away the new 'bucket list idea'
(even though i'm turning thirty this year. perfect timing for a bucket list… ?)
because what i really want for myself this year
is to try and try and try and try picturing the things and images i have in my mind
and capture the atmosphere in a drawing
with my pencils, collages, painting and (who knows) sewing.

thanks to flow magazine and the 365 grateful project
i knew what i want to do this year:

make a sketch a dayabout a tiny happy moment of that day.

So here i go.

the fishing family / voor janne

last weekend, my boyfriend went fishing with his family (an old tradition)
in a super nice environment.
it feels like you're in the wild nature (although it's not far from a city),
there's a lake with a little house (size of a summerhouse, but fully and cosy equipped)

The house (property of his sisters boyfriend) is now for sale..
although i've been there only twice,
i think i will miss it. it has a special atmosphere, and an 'instant holiday calming effect'

i took some deep 'pure air sniffs' and
used my new pencils (they're great!!).

i didn't work on this sketches on my computer, so there's not much contrast.
but in this way, the colors stay more like they are in my sketchbook.
i don't like it when the scan changes the 'atmosphere' of my sketch...
(maybe you know some tips/tricks for this?)

(janne: ik hou de originele schets bij voor je!)

Swedish dreams

although i visited sweden only a few times
i'm a huge fan of the country.
i think astrid (lindgren), pippi & lotta have something (a lot) to do with it.

next week, we'll go on a huge trip in sweden & norway.
so much looking forward to read by a lake,
drink coffee on a pier and walk in the woods.

i made a collage of it.
and some images of work in progress:
